The End-of-Break Friday.

Today is sad. It's my last day off (other than this weekend) before school starts. And it's not that I don't love my job. I love my job so much. So, so much. But it's been really nice not to be surrounded by children trying to call me "Ms. K! Ms. K!" (K for Kati), by children who ask intensely personal and inappropriate questions ("Do you have a friend with benefits?"), and by children who borderline rude ("Are you afraid you're going to become a crazy cat lady because you don't have a boyfriend?").

Yes, this break has been glorious.

As always, here are the five best things of my last week.

1. On Monday, I drove a friend from high school from home to Des Moines, Iowa, which is about halfway between old home (Minnesota) and new home (Nebraska). It was great to have a roadtrip companion, and it made the entire drive fly by.

2. New Year's Eve night was, as usual, a disappointment, but at least I had my delicious cheese and some old episodes of Grey's Anatomy to help me usher in 2013. Okay, and maybe a cosmo. Or two.

3. I read "He's Just Not That Into You" this week. If you've seen the movie, it's nothing like the book. The book is more of a self-help book, and I am a firm believer that every woman should read it. It's hilarious (I was laughing out loud at times), and I think it holds a lot of truth. So... Read it!

4. I got a free 7-day pass to my local Lifetime Fitness, and I'm strongly considering switching gyms. This has way more classes, the classes are more challenging than my gym, it's closer to home, class times are more convenient, and it's really not THAT much more expensive - especially if I use it more due to the before-stated reasons. I've already done barbell training, spin, ballet body fusion, and total body conditioning, and I'm loving it. Hopefully this will help the scale move in the downward direction. :)

5. I got to talk to Emily on Thursday. We don't talk often, but it's always good to catch up on each others' lives and plan a tentative girls weekend with Kate for May. Hopefully. Fingers crossed. :)

So that's what's been going on in my week. Come back Monday to link up with me and Kate for the original GBU, where you tell us the good, bad, and ugly of your weekend.

Happy weekending!

  2. I loved the movie so reading the book sounds great. Good to know! Man kids are the funniest! My daughter asks some really weird questions leaving me thinking "Where does she come up with these things"? Gotta love them!
