January Birchbox Reveal.

This month, my Birchbox reveal is coming slightly later than most people's, because I didn't actually get my box until last Thursday. I kept hearing that people, like Kate, had gotten their boxes, and I just sat here in Nebraska jealous of their speedy deliver.

But then it arrived.

And it was pretty good. Or at least slightly above okay. When I saw the products, I wasn't immediately impressed, but after attempting to use some of them, I'm definitely not hating my box.

This month, I received:

1. Shimmer Fragrance by Aerie. Okay, this was slightly disappointing. When did Aerie become an upscale beauty brand? (Answer: Never.) The scent is okay, but not my favorite. Perfume samples, other than my Twirl from Kate Spade, are usually disappointing. Whatever, I'll use it.

2. Lait-Creme Concentre - 24-Hour Miracle Cream by Embryolisse. I really liked this product. It's part moisturizer, part primer, both of which I'm needing. I am not married to a brand of primer yet, as I'm still working my way through various samples (Laura Mercier, Victoria's Secret, Bare Escentuals), but I really liked this. It made my foundation go on smoothly, and it didn't leave my skin feeling greasy or goopy. It's also only $16 for the full-sized product, so this may end up being my primer of choice when all my samples are gone. I was impressed.

3. Skinny Liquid Eyeliner by Eyeko. I had gotten an Eyeko fat stick in a previous month's box that I didn't love, but I really liked this eyeliner. I typically stay away from liquid eyeliner because it intimidates me, but this gave me a really thin, crisp line on my lashes. It was perfect for creating a winged eyeliner look (not something I usually do but fun anyway), and I'll like using it. Will I buy it? Not sure. I do love my Stila regular eyeliners.

4. rare blend oil Total Hair Therapy by Ojon. This is a tricolored hair oil that's supposed to prevent heat damage and give you some shine. I tried it and didn't hate it, but I'm also unlikely to buy it. This was a mediocre sample for me, especially because I rarely apply heat to my hair.

5. Nourishing Body Cream by 100% Pure. This was a good thing for winter, since it's leaving my skin pretty dry. I'll use the two samples, but I won't buy more, because I pretty much am drowning in my myriad lotions and body creams.

So that's what I got in my Birchbox this month. Interested in joining? Click here and I get some bonus points. Not sure what Birchbox is? Leave a comment with your email and I can tell you how awesome it is. :)

  1. I got this exact same box - crazy! I've never seen someone get the same box as me in blogland. I wasn't super impressed, but then again, I haven't tried anything from it yet. You've inspired me to go home tonight and actually try out some of my products :)

  5. I love how they packaged the perfume sample to look like candy. I didn't get one of those in my birchbox.

I got the eyeko eyeliner in purple a few months ago and love it.
