May Birchbox Reveal.

I'm kind of to the point where I'm starting to feel a little over Birchbox. Dont' get me wrong, my 17 months of Birchbox so far have introduced me to some amazing products that I've incorporated into my daily beauty routine - but at some point, I think I'm going to be done discovering new products and be thrilled with the upscale products I already use.

But anyway. That day is not TOday (to quote Ole Golly from Harriet the Spy, played by good old Rosie O).

So here's what was in my May box.

1. Classic Face SPF 30 Cucumber Moisturizer for Face by COOLA. I'm not a big sun-dweller in the summer, not going to lie, but I'll use this for the rare occasion that I expose my glow-in-the-dark-pale skin to the sunlight.

2. 3-Step System by DevaCurl. I'm really intrigued by this hair system, which is for curly hair. I have that. I'm currently using Miss Jessie's curl cream, which I love, but this will be an interesting thing to try. It probably won't be something I add into my regular routine, because I don't pay $19 each for shampoo and conditioner, but it will be fun.

3. Classic Mint Toothpaste by Marvis. I'm more of a cinnamon Crest kind of girl, but whatever. If this prevents me from buying toothpaste a month earlier, then so be it. It tastes fine, but again, I'm cheap when it comes to dental care.

4. Color Contrast Eyeliner by Sumita. This was a mini eyeliner pencil, but the color is pretty good. I'm really just into Stila's eyeliners, though, so again, not sure this would be something I would buy.

5. Pilot Acroball PureWhite pen. I'm a pen snob. There, I said it. I only use the G2 gel pens (0.7 mm) or Flair pens if I want some color. I'm picky about what I use to write, and that means I wasn't a fan of this pen. Will I use it? Maybe occasionally, but I definitely won't be buying them. Oh well.

So that was my box. What did you get? Anything different?

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly [GBU] Linkup.

Guys. This is my LAST Monday of my first year of teaching. As of Friday afternoon, I'll officially no longer be a first year teacher. That is awesome.

As always, because it's Monday, I'm going to tell you about the good, bad, and ugly of my weekend.

The Good: Friday night was spent with some awesome friends from my wonderful church small group. We made delicious dinner, drank some champagne, and hung out for hours. I'd been feeling kind of lonely and lacking in friends lately here in Omaha, so it felt good to hang out with people that I really like.

The Bad: This isn't bad. Not at all... So in other words, it's still good, but I needed something to write for the bad. But UV's Salty Watermelon vodka is definitely NOT bad. I bought a $1 sample of it at Walmart this weekend and mixed it with some Diet 7Up. So so so good. So summery.

The Ugly: Gas prices are skyrocketing. Not too long ago, I paid $2.81 a gallon for gas (okay, I had a lot of discounts from HyVee purchases, but whatever). Now it's near $4 a gallon, and I hate my life a little bit. At least my new car gets great gas mileage... But it's still annoying.

What was good, bad, and ugly in your weekend?

Free Stuff Friday.

Guys, guess WHAT? Today is the LAST FRIDAY of the school year... Other than an inservice next week, but whatever. The year is wrapping up, and finally the weather here in Omaha is catching up with it. If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen my car thermometer hit 109.

Summer is almost here.

As always, here are the five best things about my last week:

1. Last weekend involved a zumbathon and margaritas with my gym friend afterwards. I don't know if there's a better way to rehydrate after a workout!

2. I also went downtown with a friend to use up a gift card at a semi-swanky sushi place (say that three times fast!).

3. Beauty Brands had a huge mascara sale on upscale brands. I also had a $25 gift card I received from doing a wellness survey at work, so I spent a grand total of five dollars on these three high-end mascaras. I can't wait to try them out!

4. On two different days, two eighth grade girls said pretty inappropriate things in my class. I assigned them lunch detention, but they said they'd rather write "I will not say inappropriate things in anyone's class" 500 times... So they did. The lunch detention would have been quicker, but this was funnier.

5. I stopped at HyVee last night to pick up some marshmallows and stumbled across a table of gluten-free samples. When the lady asked if I followed a gluten-free diet and I said yes, she gave me this giant bag of full-sized free stuff. Crackers, cookies, chips... I'm pretty sure the value of this stuff was somewhere around the $15 mark. Can't beat that!

Finally, number six, my apartment complex's pool is OPEN for business. I'm not a huge poolside dweller, but this summer, that might need to change. Book in one hand and a cold (maybe spiked) beverage in the other and I'll be good to go!

Come back Monday to link up for the GBU and tell me what was good, bad, and ugly about your weekend!

Throwback Thursday: Best Bs of Middle School.

Today for Throwback Thursday, we're going back to sixth grade, where I met Kirsten. Our mutual hatred of our sixth grade teacher, Carol, and our snarky senses of humor brought us together, and we were inseparable for a few years.

Super cute, right? I remember being a huge fan of the "Charlie's Angels" pose. Whatever happened to that?

Anyway.

Kirsten and I ended up becoming friends again towards the end of our high school years. We were in the same AP classes and, again, shared a mutual hatred of the same people. How can you not love someone who hates the same people you do?

Especially when she hated, on principle, the girls I was friends with freshmen year of college who ended up being terrible people. Gotta love that.

Senior year, we added Clinton into our crew, and the three of us would sit around in the English wing every day for a period. I was a student assistant to my favorite teacher (hey Mr. E!), Kirsten was a student assistant for the slutty English teacher, and Clinton... Well, I'm not actually sure why he was in that wing. He might have been a wanderer.

We split up three ways for college across two states, with me being the one that was far away. However, these two are still some of my favorite people. We don't see each other often, but they roadtripped out to see me a few times during college, and whenever I'm with them, I laugh so much.

this picture accurately sums everyone up.

It's been a few years since we've gotten together, but nonetheless, those two are some stellar people. Pretty much this just makes me need to go text Kirsten. Clinton, well... You know. Whatever. :)

Five Things: College.

I like lists. I like them a lot. That's why you're going to be seeing them a lot around here from now on as I start to think about changing the name of my blog and the overall purpose of my blog (more to come on that another day).

So my list for today? Five things I wish I'd done differently in college.

I'm good at school. That might sound stupid or arrogant, but I'm good at school. I am good at studying. I'm good at writing papers. I'm good at not procrastinating. I'm good at taking notes. I do school well. But college? Although I had academics locked down, there are non-academic things I wish I'd done differently.

1. Made better friends immediately. The girls I was friends with first at college ended up being not-great human beings, which made for an awful freshman year. This is NOT one of those girls. This is my freshman roommate, who was maybe the only reason I didn't actually transfer that year.

2. Realized that I'm awesome. This might sound arrogant, but I spent so much time thinking that I was not worthy of being liked, and that was stupid. I'm totally likable.

3. Not lived with Crazy Lauren sophomore year. She was a NUT, you guys. A NUT. However, when she moved out, I ended up living with this girl, who I still love dearly to this day.

4. Taken any class for my history requirement BUT Southeast Asian History. On the plus side, I made some hilarious and interesting friends...

5. Partied. Not enough to get in trouble but more than none. I partied none. Senior year I finally made friends with people who did, and it might sound stupid, but I wish I'd taken them up on their offers to go out once in awhile.

it's not even open, relax.

So that's what I wish I'd done differently! If you could go back, what would YOU have done differently in college?
